Home economics was the main subject for girls before World War II along with Sewing classes.\n Especially in sewing classes, the most important purpose was that girls acquired high skills in making clothes, and a long time was spent on this. In the process of acquiring skills, girls\u0027 psychological maturity was also stressed in education.\n On the other hand, cooking skills are necessary for everyday life but are not important for girls in schooL Good reasons for learning cooking skills in school were necessary.\n In the Meiji Era, and the beginning of the Taisho Era girls learned how to make European dishes and Japanese ceremonial dishes apart from foods for daily life. After that, girls\u0027 high schools became so popular that cooking classes in girls\u0027 high schools needed to be very practicaL However these cooking classes were not practical, but were necessary for the Nation and the War.\n The skills learned in school will be useful for students in the future.
