This paper examines the music experiences practiced by Saitama University students through quantitative and qualitative research. Data analyzed in this paper were from the questionnaire survey for the quantitative analysis and group interviews for the qualitative analysis. The first questionnaire survey revealed that there was no gender difference in respondents’ music experiences and only a small number of students who had participated in music live. However, the second survey established that there was the gender difference in attending concerts between the respondents. The second survey also showed that the respondents who participate in music live at least four times a year have tendencies to support more than one idol. The third survey as a qualitative research was to demonstrate the fan activities and communications in the idol-fan communities. This is conducted through sources from group interviews and group discussions with fan club members and idol music live participants.
