なぜ聞き手を指す「そこのN」は非丁寧になるのか Why is “Soko no noun” Impolite When Referring to a Hearer? 金井, 勇人 カナイ, ハヤト ソ系の指示語 対話の開始時 非丁寧さ 聞き手用法 中距離用法 demonstratives of so-series at the start of a dialogue impoliteness reference to the domain of a hearer reference to the domain of a medial range 本稿は、なぜ聞き手を指す「そこのN」は非丁寧になるのか、という問題を考察する。例えば、「先生、質問があるのですが…」において、「先生」は非丁寧ではない。ところが「そこの先生、質問があるのですが…」のように「そこのN」という形式で指すと、非丁寧になる。 この現象を説明するにあたり、本稿では、この「そこのN」におけるソは、人称区分型における聞き手用法でも、距離区分型における中距離用法でもなく、両用法の性質を合わせ持つ、ということを論じる。 「そこのN」による指示は、聞き手を認識しながらも、聞き手の領域の成立を承認しない（中距離の領域として捉える）という特殊なものである。このことがコとソの非対称性を生み出し、聞き手を指す「そこのN」は非丁寧になるのだと考えられる。 This paper examines the reason why "Soko no noun" is impolite when referring to a hearer. For example, "Sensei, Shitsumon ga Aru no desuga…" is not impolite. On the other hand, "Soko no Sensei, Shitsumon ga Aru no desuga…" is impolite. This paper argues that "So" in "Soko no noun" refers neither to the domain of a hearer in the person-division type nor to the domain of a medial range in the distance-division type. Not so, this "So" has properties of both uses. Referring to someone using the "Soko no noun" form is special as it treats the domain of a hearer as the domain of a medial range, that is, the speaker recognizes the existence of the hearer but does not approve of the hearer's domain.
