地域銀行のZ スコアに見る経営安定性の分析《論文》 Bank soundness measured by Z-score and its relationship to Financial Competition : Evidence from Japanese regional banks 杉山, 敏啓 スギヤマ, トシヒロ Z-score banking stability Lerner index markup HHI（Herfindahl-Hirschman Index） This paper aims to measure the Z-score of Japanese regional banks and, subsequently, to confirm the effect of competition on the Z-score. Measured Z-scores of Japanese regional banks did not indicate an increase in the probability of bank failure. The empirical analysis studied how changes in the degree of competition affect bank soundness. The effect of the PCM （Lerner index or markup） on the Z-score was not a simple positive linear relation, but a non-linear relation, as previous studies have described. The change to an oligopoly, as seen in the HHI, suggests a negative relation to bank soundness.
