 note = {This study intends to investigate two peculiar local landscape features of Chichibu area, namely a cement factory and a lime factory. Although these structures belong to postmodernization era, sense of psychological and scale relations with surrounding landscape composition may have an influence on historical perception, which is the main focus of this study. Through utilization of field observations and outcomes of previous studies, 12 factors were nominated to investigate the landscape composition of cement factories. The relationship of the proposed compositional factors with historical impression and oldness, the degree of understanding of people about compositional factors, the degree of the effect by the differences of the composition were investigated using a questionnaire survey based on photographic images of the real site. Results showed that historical perception was strongly influenced by prominence of the size, comparison against nature and the novelty than the other factors. It was found that the influence increased by synergism of the factors rather than when factors are individually treated. In addition, it was observed that the degree of understanding about each factor was high.
