The thermal expansion rates of both the synthetic cubic CsB-<0.2>Al_<0.8>Si_2O_6 and cubic Cs_2MSi_5O_<12> (M=Cd, Mg, Ni, Zn) were lower than that of the synthetic cubic CsMSi_2O_6 (M=Al, Fe), and the thermal expansion rate of the synthetic cubic Cs_<0.9>Al_<0.9>Si_<2.1>O_6 was lower than that of CsAlSi_2O_6. Consequently, decreasing the average ionic radius of cations in the M site, or increasing the Si/M molar ratio of the (Si, M)O_4 tetrahedra was found to be effective for decreasing the thermal expansion rate.
