Preparation conditions for the Zn_xFe_<3-x>O_4 fine powders were investigated by varying Zn/α-Fe_2O_3 molar ratio and heating conditions under an Ar gas flow. The Zn_xFe_<3-x>O_4 fine powders of single phase were successfully prepared by firing the powder mixture of Zn/α-Fe_2O_3=0.35 (molar ratio) at 500℃ for 1-10 h in Ar (200 cm^3/min). The particle size of Zn_xFe_<3-x>O_4 powder prepared at 500℃ for 3h was 0.3-0.6μm, and the powders showed nearly spherical in shape and little aggregation.
