From the experimental results, it was clarified that the axial load at pile head affects the restoring force degradation and the maximum damage point is dependent on the relative stiffness between the pile and surrounding soil. From the analytical study using 3-dimensional FEM analysis, the experimental behavior could be adequately simulated by the applied method.
