This paper presents our research on the integrated use of vision and speech for such robots. The research is divided into two areas. One is about vision systems necessary for understanding spoken orders of humans. We show that the robot needs a vision system recognizing the situation and the nonverbal behaviors of humans to understand natural utterances.
