In particular, the electronics industry was the most successful and therefore the economic strength of Japan was ranked number one for both quality and quantity.\n However, Japan has begun to lose its competitiveness since the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1990s. Typical Japanese electronics companies including Sony and Panasonic have declined in their revenues, and they have been forced to review their businesses and implement downsizing. Unfortunately, they were unable to reverse the trend.\n Indeed, both Sony and Panasonic went even further into debt on and after the collapse of Lehman Brothers. Because of such situations, Japanese electronics companies are currently struggling to get rid of such a critical status, and cannot improve it. The export of social infrastructure businesses including urban development, railway, water resources, power and so on to emerging countries is highly expected. The reason why such social infrastructure businesses have possibilities to improve Japanese economic is that Japanese technical capabilities are expected to become more global competitive. Modular digitization has proceeded in the conventional electronics industry including audio/video and consumer electronic products and therefore technology transfer can be easily implemented. Consequently, Social infrastructure businesses have difficulties in technology transfer. It is comparatively easy for social infrastructure businesses to occupy their technology. Social infrastructure businesses is a total enterprise consisting of a very broad range of companies from heavy electric machinery to parts and software.
