In our past study, we have identified two lines of mutant affected in formation of epibranchial ganglia in zebrafish. One of them, named non-epibranchial (nep), lacks all epibranchial ganglia at two days after fertilization with earlier molecular markers relatively normal, suggesting that disrupted gene in this mutant is required for later differentiation or maintenance of the epibranchial ganglia. To identify it, we positioned nep gene on the linkage group 20 and fond some genetically related genes around nep locus.
