 note = {The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual situation and issues of online shopping behavior and card payment behavior for junior high school students in order to utilize them in teaching home economics. The study samples are 300 junior high school students in Saitama. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire in 2018. We find that almost 60% respondents have experienced online shopping. There are many commercial facilities around respondents’ home, but many respondents shop at both online and physical stores. Although credit cards are not issued to junior high school students, some students use their parents’ credit cards for online shopping. We investigated the positive and negative images of online shopping and credit cards payment on the Likert-scale, respectively. Convenience and various kinds of products are evaluated as positive images for online shopping. On the other hand, risk of fraud and possible infringement of privacy are perceived as negative images. A large part of groups with low negative image scores and high positive image scores do not have rules in terms of usage of online shopping in comparison with groups with other categories. Many respondents positively evaluate that payment without money can be made by using credit cards. They are aware that payment is deferred by using credit cards. They do not, however, understand that use of credit cards causes debt. Few respondents have the right knowledge about credit cards. With the spread of online shopping using credit cards, it was confirmed that appropriate knowledge about credit cards and online shopping must be acquired.
