Results of the review revealed that childcare behaviors responsive to the needs of the child were extremely significant for women in their child-rearing years in relation to their maternal and individual development and, indirectly, the effect on their child’s quality of life (QOL) .\nFurther, this paper references Belsky’s (1984) process of the parenting model to outline the existing research on factors that define the mother-child relationship in Japan: personal psychological resources of mothers, characteristics of children, and childcare support for mothers. The outcomes indicate the mutual influence of maternal involvement with children and characteristics of children. However, support for mothers tailored to personal maternal psychological resources accords flexibility to a mother’s involvement with their child and promotes the maternal development of women engaged in childcare. Furthermore, numerous studies on extending support for mothers have emphasized the approach of encouraging a positive self-evaluation, including self-efficacy as a personal psychological resource for mothers engaged in childcare. Such positive self-evaluation denotes the maternal ability to manage childcare anxiety and boosts satisfaction and fulfillment in mothers.
