 note = {The purpose of this study is to develop a learning program which enhances students’ recognition of proportional relationship between variables in lower-secondary school science by means of constructing conceptual entities and improves science learning, and to test the educational effect of the program in practice. Developed program is composed of two parts; the first is four-hours special lessons to enhance the recognition of proportional relationship between variables, and the second is science lessons of unit “electricity and its use” in the 2nd grade of lower-secondary school. Qualitative understanding of conceptual entities learning in the unit are constructed before introducing the calculation of proportional relationship in the program. Results of practice of the program at a lower-secondary school showed significant improvement of students’ recognition of proportional relationship between variables, and effects in increasing self-efficacy, awareness of importance of learning science and liking of calculation in science among students who have successfully constructed the conceptual entities, suggesting the effectiveness of this program to improve science learning., text, application/pdf},
