In this type of balancing machine, an active dynamic vibration absorber is used to eliminate the vibration of a test table on which an unbalanced rotor is driven to rotate. The unbalance of the rotor can be identified accurately from the motion of the absorber mass when the table does not vibrate. Three methods of eliminating the vibration are presented. One of them is to use the absorber as an undamped dynamic vibration absorber. The application of the theory of output regulation is another method. The other is to apply repetitive or periodic learning control theories. In the experiments, the last method is adopted.
